The long cherished dream and prayer of St. Norbert parishioners to have their own parish church was realized on 26 June 2010 when archbishop Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras of Bangalore blessed and dedicated the newly built Church to St. Norbert the patron saint of the parish.

The inauguration of St. Norbert Church
Kasavanahalli marked yet another mile
stone for the growth of the Syro-Malabar Church in the Archdiocese of Bangalore. The long cherished dream of the Syro-Malabar faithful in and around Kaikondanahalli, Kasavanahalli, Bellandur, Ibluru and Kennehalli has been fulfilled when Archbishop Bernard Mores dedicated the new parish, to St. Norbert the patron saint, during the Holy Eucharist celebration on 23 May 2009. There are 175 families registered in the new parish. Rev. Dr. Jose Murickan, Mr. Philip Plathara, Biju Cyriac, Shaijan Sebastian, Binny P.Kuriakose and Biju Dominic were the key organizers of the inauguration ceremony.

WHO ARE THE NORBERTINES
The Norbertines are a group of Roman Catholic priests, brothers and sisters. The Order was founded by St. Norbert in the early 12th century. We lead community lives in Priories/Abbeys following the Rule of St. Augustine, yet involve heavily in activities outside of our houses depending upon the need of the local Church (diocese).

Currently we number just over 1,000 members, of which approximately 800 are priests, brothers, deacons and novices, and the rest 200 are sisters. Today, the Norbertines serve the universal Church in following nations: France, Belgium, Netherlands, Britain (England), Ireland (Republic), Denmark, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Romania, United States of America, Canada, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly known as Zaire), Brazil, Chile, Peru, India and Australia.
MANANTHAVADY NORBERTINES
St. Norbert Church Kasavanahalli, Bangalore, is run by Norbertines from the Canonry of Mananthavady, Kerala.
Norbertines came to the archdiocese of Bangalore in the early 90’s with the novitiate house at Kothannur. Later, realizing the plight of children on the streets of Bangalore Norbertines extended their mission and ministry for these less privileged children of the streets. For this cause, Empowerment of Children and Human Rights Organization (ECHO) was established in 1999 with its head office at Kammanahalli. St. Augustine study house (SASH) at Kasavanahalli on the Sarjapura road was inaugurated in 2001 as the centre for studies for the theology students of the Canonry.

Ever since the foundation of St. Augustine study house the Norbertines have been rendering all possible spiritual care to the Syro-Malabar faithful of the locality. In 2004 we also started Sunday catechism for children with the consent of his Grace Archbishop Ignatius Pinto. As the number of faithful increased our request for a parish was approved by his Grace Archbishop Bernard Mores. St. Norbert semi-public Church was established on 10 February 2009.

St. Norbert, the founder of the Norbertine Order is the patron saint of the new church. As Norbertines celebrate 875 years of their foundation in 2009 this new church in the archdiocese of Bangalore is a tribute to the missionary activities of the Order in India. At present there are 175 families registered and Rev. Dr. Jose Murickan O.Praem is the first parish priest-in-charge of this semi-public church.
